Wine that exceeded expectations, with a delightful and evolved flavour profile that combines fruity and honey accents with a opulent background of oak, floral, and herby notes. The finish is long and satisfying, with a enjoyable touch of zing on the palate.

What the web is saying

Domaine Fouassier Sur Le Fort Sancerre is praised for its harmonious blend of citrus, apple, and stone fruit flavors, with a crisp and refreshing finish. While some appreciate its floral and herbal notes, others enjoy its subtle oak and honey undertones. The wine is consistently described as well-balanced and elegant, though a few find it merely satisfactory. It pairs well with various dishes, enhancing the dining experience.

Voss Experts4.5

A quintessential expression of Sancerre, this wine unveils a pale straw hue with greenish reflections, indicative of its youthful vibrancy. The nose is an elegant interplay of flinty minerality and ripe citrus, underscored by nuances of white peach and elderflower. On the palate, it offers a precise, linear structure with a vibrant acidity that cuts through the layers of grapefruit and green apple, complemented by a subtle herbaceous undertone. The finish is long and mineral-driven, echoing the terroir's chalky soils. This Sancerre stands as a benchmark for the region, showcasing finesse and complexity.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.
