Bottle of this wine has been languishing on my shelf for quite some time due to its intimidating ABV. Fortunately, I was able to rectify this situation by avoiding its purchase. The wine's deep, luscious color is a testament to its solid character. However, the overpowering Bourbon flavor dominates the fruit, with tones of sweet caramel, vanilla, toffee, and maple syrup that are both cloying and overpowering. The wine's lack of acidity, viscosity, and burning alcohol also contribute to its lack of balance. at the same time it may be apt for dessert wine pairings, I would advise against it. Instead, I would recommend pairing it with foie gras.
