W. & J. Graham's was founded in 1820 by brothers William and John Graham. In 1820, the textile traders accepted 27 barrels of port as payment of a debt, inspiring them to produce port wines in the Douro Valley. In 1882, Andrew James Symington traveled from Scotland to Porto to work for the Graham family. The third generation of the Symington family acquired Graham's in 1970. Charles Symington serves as Master Blender.

Graham's Lodge is located in Vila Nova de Gaia, across the river from Porto. The producer sources grapes from four properties: Quinta dos Malvedos, Quinta do Tua, Quinta da Vila Velha, and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas in the Douro Superior. Quinta dos Malvedos features a boutique winery with three modern treading lagares installed in 2000. Its wines include Vintage Ports, which spend roughly 18 months in wooden vats before bottling, and Tawny ports, which age in seasoned oak casks to allow oxygen contact.
