At Vie di Romans, the Gallo family's work with vineyards and wines has been shaped by family members such as Basilio, Stelio, Gianfranco, and their relatives. Gianfranco Gallo has managed the estate since 1978. In 1978, the estate bottled and released its first label on the market. This was followed by a vineyard reorganization in 1982, the construction of a new three-storey winery building in 1989, and the separate production of wines from distinct vineyards beginning in 1990.

The estate is located on a broad terrace on the north bank of the Isonzo river, within the Friuli Isonzo DOC, where it has 60 hectares of planted vineyards. Viticultural practices include high-density planting, low yields, and careful canopy management. Different vineyard blocks of grapes are vinified separately. Wine labels feature both the grape variety and the vineyard name, derived from local cadastral maps and traditional place names. In 1992, with the release of the 1990 vintage, the estate established the custom of releasing all white wines a full two years after harvest.
