Venchiarezza

Venchiarezza is a wine producer near Cividale del Friuli, with roots in the small family farming business begun by great-grandfather Antonio in the early 1900s. In the 1950s, Guido succeeded Antonio, specialized in wine production and built a new winery. He also built a machine to destem red grapes before vinification, producing wines without bitter or vegetal flavours.

In 2004, the “Vigna del Tempo” project began with buds recovered from vines over half a century old and grafted onto rootstocks for mass selection vineyards. Mass selection was subsequently chosen for all new vineyards. Native grape varieties include Tocai Friulano and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. In the vineyards, synthetic fertilizers and pesticides are excluded, while protection of grapes and vines relies solely on limited quantities of sulphur and copper.
