In 2000, following a decade-long search, husband and wife Dirk Fulton and Becky Kukkola discovered the location on which to establish their vineyard, The Vineyardist. Winemaker Tony Biagi leads the wine program.

The estate sits high upon exposed, eastern-facing slopes within the hills of the Diamond Mountain District, west of Calistoga. Twenty small blocks, each planted to different clonal varieties in elevation ranging from 800 to 1,300 feet, comprise the 24 working acres of the 120-acre estate. The vineyards and other estate crops, including culinary herbs, citrus, and olive oil, are hand-farmed biodynamically and sustainably, and fruit is harvested by hand across multiple micro-harvests. The estate produces limited quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, and its wines include Cabernet Sauvignon Calarcadia Vineyard.
