Tenuta Il Palagio

Tenuta Il Palagio is a wine estate at Castel San Gimignano in the Sienese Val d’Elsa. It belonged to Marchese Matteucci before the Zonin family acquired it in 1979. The family then shifted the estate’s agricultural focus from mainly cereals and olives to wine and olives. Most of the estate lies in the municipality of Colle di Val d’Elsa, with a small part in San Gimignano. Its holdings cover nearly 350 hectares, including about 100 hectares of vineyards at an average altitude of 300 metres above sea level. The vineyards have well-structured, strongly clayey soil, which is essential for supplying the vines with water during the hot summer months.
