Storm

Storm is a Hemel-en-Aarde wine producer whose wines are handcrafted by husband and wife Hannes and Nathalia Storm. Hannes discovered two parcels after 12 vintages working with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The two vineyards, in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, were planted with Pinot Noir in 2008. Storm’s maiden vintage was 2012; the wines were released in August 2014 after 18 months in bottle. Storm combines small production and careful viticulture with minimal cellar intervention. Its wines include Vrede Pinot Noir and Vrede Chardonnay from the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Ignis Pinot Noir from the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, and Ridge Pinot Noir and Ridge Chardonnay from the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. While the Vrede and Ridge wines come from low-vigour, stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale soils, Ignis Pinot Noir comes from decomposed granite.
