Raffaldini’s owners are Jay Raffaldini and Barbara Raffaldini. Against a 32-acre backdrop of vines, Raffaldini opened its first tasting room, called the Fattoria, in fall 2005. Raffaldini built its own winery in 2007 and the Villa in 2008.

Located in the Yadkin Valley, the 102-acre estate is perched in the Blue Ridge foothills in Ronda, North Carolina. Across the vineyard, 48,000 vines grow at 1,200 feet of elevation in granite and schist soil. Grapes grown are Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Sagrantino, Teroldego, Vermentino, and Trebbiano. Winemaking incorporates the Appassimento drying process, where picked grapes are dried in a Fruttaio on special racks using fans and heaters to evaporate water before pressing. Red grapes are dried to 25% weight loss in the Fruttaio annually, taking up to 10 days.
