Quartz Reef

Quartz Reef was founded in 1996 by Rudi Bauer, John Perriam, and Trevor Scott. Rudi Bauer is the winemaker, while Trevor Scott is a significant shareholder of Quartz Reef, and John Perriam is a shareholder and the owner of Bendigo Station.

The estate is situated across 30 hectares in the Bendigo sub-region northeast of Cromwell, where Bendigo Estate Vineyard occupies a 15-hectare north-facing slope, and Loop Road Vineyard is a 15-hectare site with sandy loam soils. Vines were first planted on Bendigo Station in 1998, and the estate's first harvest took place in 2001. Grapes are hand-harvested. Biodynamic conversion began in 2007, culminating in Demeter certification in 2011, and the estate holds Demeter biodynamic and BioGro organic certifications.
