Poggio Scalette was established as an independent winery in 1991 by Vittorio Fiore and his wife Adriana Assjè di Marcorà on Ruffoli hill in Greve in Chianti. In 1996, the purchase of an adjoining property with a cellar brought the estate to about 40 hectares. Their son Jurij manages the estate, with Vittorio supervising all its activities.

The vineyards and olive groves lie between 350 and 550 metres above sea level, and vineyard plantings reached approximately 15 hectares in 2007. The Il Carbonaione plot contains Sangiovese vines planted in the decade following the end of the First World War. Its wines include Il Carbonaione, Chianti Classico, Piantonaia from Merlot, Capogatto from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot, and Richiari from Chardonnay.
On VinoVoss, Poggio Scalette has 3 wines in stock: 3 red. Their average rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 87 ratings.
