The Poggio del Moro estate was created by Tania and Alex with the help of a team from all over the world. The estate is located south of Montepulciano in the neighborhood of Chianciano, Tuscany. The vineyards occupy 14 hectares, divided into 10 main plots, 7 of which surround a small lake. Pliocene-era soils are composed of sand from an ancient sea, tuff, and varying fractions of clay. Twelve hectares are planted with red grape varieties: Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Nero. The remaining two hectares are planted with white varieties: Trebbiano Procanico, Grechetto, and Malvasia Toscana. Farming is organic and conducted by hand using environmentally friendly practices. Pests and weeds are managed without chemical treatments, and grapes are harvested entirely by hand. Natural fermentation uses indigenous yeasts from the estate vineyards. Research was initiated in 2015 to isolate and use native vineyard and grape skin microflora for fermentations.
On VinoVoss, Poggio del Moro has 3 wines in stock: 3 red. Their average rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 19 ratings.
