Mount Veeder Winery

Mount Veeder Winery began when Michael and Arlene Bernstein planted Cabernet cuttings in 1970 and, encouraged by Robert Mondavi, established the first winery on Mount Veeder. The Bernsteins were instrumental in establishing the Mount Veeder AVA and were the first in Napa Valley to plant Petit Verdot and all five classic Bordeaux varieties on the same property. The winemaker is John Giannini.

Rosenquist Ranch features steeply terraced vineyard rows wrapping around the mountainside at high elevation, while North Ranch was replanted throughout the 1990s with rootstocks suited to severe summer conditions. Across the vineyards, farming uses erosion control with contoured curved terraces, underground drainage pipes, and water collector basins.
