Montevertine has been an inhabited locality since the 11th century. Founder Sergio Manetti restored the house, planted two hectares of vineyard, and built a small winery to make wine for friends and clients, and the estate's first vintage produced was 1971.

Located in Radda in Chianti at 425 meters of altitude, total vineyard surface area is about 18 hectares. Sangiovese constitutes about 90% of planted vines, with the remaining 10% Colorino and Canaiolo. Density is 5,000 vines per hectare for parcels planted from 1997 onwards, and 3,200 for earlier plantings, while vines are trained in Guyot in older vineyards and spurred cordon in newer plantings. Organic vineyard management began with the 2009 vintage. Hand-harvested grapes ferment in glass-lined concrete tanks without temperature control, with two daily pump-overs, and malolactic fermentation occurs in vitrified concrete vats following devatting. Aging lasts about two years in Slavonian and Allier oak casks of 5.5 to 18 hectoliters and 225-liter Allier barriques; they are never filtered and are bottled by gravity.
On VinoVoss, Montevertine has 1 wine in stock: 1 red. Their average rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 46 ratings.
