In the mid-1980s, Markus Molitor took over his father’s winery as the eighth generation of the family.

The estate is based at Haus Klosterberg above Zeltingen-Rachtig in the Middle Mosel vineyards. Its vineyards are located along the Middle Mosel from Brauneberg to Traben-Trarbach, and since 2001 include steep slopes on the Saar. Riesling is grown in Erdener Prälat, and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) is cultivated in Trarbacher Schlossberg. The estate practices gentle vineyard management with low yields and late harvesting of physiologically ripe grapes. Winemaking involves spontaneous fermentation and maturation in wooden barrels without the use of fining agents, enzymes, cultured yeasts, or other additives. Maturation occurs in an old, three-level vaulted cellar cut into slate rock offering cool temperatures and high humidity, where wines rest on fine lees for months.
On VinoVoss, Markus Molitor has 5 wines in stock: 4 white, 1 dessert. Their average rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 110 ratings.
