Larkmead

Larkmead was founded in 1895. The Salmina family leased the winery in 1895 and purchased it outright in 1903, and in 1948, Larry and Polly Solari purchased Larkmead. The estate is under the stewardship of the Solari-Baker family, with Kate Solari Baker serving as Proprietor and President, and Avery Heelan is the winemaker. Located in Calistoga on land under vine since the mid-1800s, the estate encompasses 115 contiguous acres of vineyard. The grapes grown are Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Tocai Friulano. A winery built in 2005 allows a vinification tank for each vineyard block, with small lots vinified according to clonal selection and soil type, and its wines include LMV Salon.
