Lou Kapcsándy and his son Louis Jr. co-founded the vineyard and winery in 2002, and construction on the winery was finished in September 2005. Anthony Arcudi has served as consulting winemaker since 2016. Lou Kapcsándy passed away in October 2021, and Louis Kapcsándy, Jr. produces wines from the 20-acre estate.

In Yountville, California, each bottle from the property is designated State Lane Vineyard. The vineyard is planted at 2,600 vines per acre, and rows are planted with magnetic North-South orientation. Farming practices are sustainable, including nesting boxes, perch poles, songbird houses, compost, natural fertilizers, and cover crops. Additionally, the winery and residence are 100 percent solar-powered.
