In 1981, Lee Hudson purchased undeveloped land in the Carneros region of Napa that would become Hudson Napa Valley. Cristina Salas-Porras Hudson and Lee Hudson are owners, and Andrew Holve serves as Director of Winemaking. First Chardonnay grapes were planted in 1982, and Cabernet Franc and Merlot were planted in 1986. In 2004, John Kongsgaard helped craft the first Hudson-labeled wines: 150 cases of Chardonnay and 70 cases of Syrah. Construction of the winery and hospitality facilities broke ground in 2016, and the first vintage was produced at Hudson Ranch's own winery in 2018.
