Mike and Austin Hills broke ground on July 4, 1977, for the Grgich Hills winery in Rutherford, in Napa Valley. Austin Hills serves as Chairman of the Board, while Violet Grgich serves as President and CEO, and Ivo Jeramaz serves as Winemaker and VP of Vineyards and Production.
The winery encompasses 366 acres spread across five vineyards throughout Napa Valley, using exclusively its own grapes to produce 100% estate grown wine. Its vineyards include the 164-acre American Canyon property and a 34-acre Yountville vineyard, which includes Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in 1959. All vineyards were certified organic by 2006, and certification from the Regenerative Organic Alliance was attained in December 2022. In addition, the estate is powered by solar energy with 860 photovoltaic panels generating up to 142 kilowatts.
