Elephant Hill was established in 2003, after proprietors Reydan and Roger Weiss visited Te Awanga from Germany in 2001.

The winery is located on the Te Awanga coast of Hawke’s Bay on New Zealand’s North Island, within a stone’s throw of the Pacific Ocean. Elephant Hill has three vineyards: the coastal Te Awanga Vineyard, the inland Gimblett Vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowers District, and The Triangle Vineyard in the Bridge Pa Triangle region. All vineyards are 100% accredited by Sustainable Winegrowers of New Zealand (SWNZ). Wildflowers are planted in the vineyards and creek banks to promote biodiversity and attract beneficial insects, and grapes are hand-picked. Additionally, a biological water treatment system recycles winery waste water into clean water, and grapes are fermented in many small, separate batches. Its wines include Salomé Chardonnay, Airavata Syrah, and Hieronymus.
On VinoVoss, Elephant Hill has 6 wines in stock: 2 red, 4 white. Their average rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 71 ratings.
