In 1879, Claude Duvergey bought the Herbeux estate in Meursault, which became the core of Domaine Jacques Prieur. He passed away in 1920 and bequeathed all his assets to Jacques Prieur, who named the estate after himself in 1956. In 1988, five families including the Labruyère family joined together to prevent foreign acquisition of the estate. Edouard Labruyère took over the estate's management in 2008.

Located in Meursault, the estate received organic certification in 2023. Grapes are harvested entirely by hand in small crates and sorted using a double sorting table. Chardonnay whole clusters are pressed pneumatically, and the juice is settled for 12 to 14 hours. Alcoholic fermentation and ageing take place in oak barrels, with 100% malolactic fermentation. Ageing generally lasts roughly 20 months.
