Domaine Bertagna is a wine estate in Vougeot that Eva’s father acquired in 1982. In 1988, Eva moved to France to manage and restructure the estate. Franck Ambeis is its cellar master. The estate produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines on 17 hectares, working the soil with respect for terroir and using considered, ecological pest management. It produces wines across 18 appellations: five Grand Cru, eight Premier Cru, two Village and three regional. Grapes are hand-picked at full maturity, then the bunches undergo rigorous sorting. Measured punch-downs extract colour, aromas and tannins, while vinification respects the activity of indigenous microorganisms. Each wine then ages in 228-litre French oak Burgundy barrels for 12–18 months, with 30–100% new barrels depending on the appellation and vintage.
