Contadi Castaldi is a winery in Franciacorta, where Vittorio and Mariella Moretti decided in the 1980s to convert the former Biasca brickyard into a winery. The brickyard had originated from one of the area’s quarries and went out of business in the second half of the 20th century. Vittorio purchased the property mostly because of Mariella’s childhood memories associated with the plant.

The property covers 7,000 square metres, and the renovation plan involved a conservative restoration of the central building, with its ground floor used for vinification and ageing. The former brickyard’s large spaces and long tunnels, once used for firing bricks, provide space for ageing Franciacorta vintages and welcoming wine lovers.
