Dennis O'Neil and Steph Martin are the vintners of the Checkerboard Vineyards estate.

Checkerboard Vineyards is located on the southeast facing slope of Diamond Mountain in Napa Valley. The 300-acre estate includes a winery, a cave, and four vineyard sites. The four vineyard sites have different elevations, exposures, and soil compositions. The property is farmed sustainably with water conservation, permanent cover crops planted in alternating rows, the use of entomology for pest control, and the protection of habitat along Nash Creek. In addition, Checkerboard Vineyards is a member of the Fish Friendly Farming certification program. In the winemaking process, grapes are hand-harvested, clusters are sorted and gently de-stemmed, and the resulting berries are individually selected for fermentation. Its wines include small-lot Cabernet Sauvignon-driven wines.
