The story of Brandlin Estate began in the 1870s when the Brandlins emigrated from Switzerland and pioneered a homestead on Mount Veeder. In 1926, Henry Brandlin planted the estate's first vines. Brandlin Estate was acquired in 1998 by the Swiss Schmidheiny family; Steve Rogstad has served as Director of Winemaking since the debut 2003 vintage, and Rebecca Peterson serves as Winemaker.

Situated along the Mount Veeder Ridgeline in the Mayacamas Range, Napa Valley, the certified sustainable estate encompasses 120 acres of woodlands and 49 acres of vineyards. Plantings include 30 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon across 12 blocks, 2.2 acres of Malbec, 1.8 acres of Cabernet Franc, 1.4 acres of Petite Verdot, 11.2 acres of old-vine Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes are hand-picked, hand-sorted, de-stemmed, and gravity fed into small vats.
