Avignonesi was founded in Montepulciano in the 1970s and takes its name from a 16th-century noble family. Belgian entrepreneur Virginie Saverys acquired ownership of Avignonesi in 2009. In 2024, leadership transitioned from Virginie Saverys to her children, Basile and Eline Aloy.

The estate extends over more than 300 hectares between Montepulciano and Cortona. Vineyards are estate-grown and farmed under organic and biodynamic principles, and the business holds Benefit Corporation and B Corp certifications. The La Stella vineyard was designed to counter monoculture and improve climate resilience. The winery vinifies exclusively estate-grown grapes. Since 2013, the Lodola facility has served as the centre for vinification and ageing, where each parcel is vinified separately. Vessels used include amphorae, stainless steel tanks, concrete eggs, barriques, large casks, and caratelli.
On VinoVoss, Avignonesi has 8 wines in stock: 8 red. Their average rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 811 ratings.
