This illustrious Grand Cru Chardonnay presents a luminous straw hue, offering an aromatic symphony of ripe stone fruits, lemon curd, and a whisper of flinty minerality. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied structure with a seamless integration of vibrant acidity and creamy texture. The layers of white peach, toasted brioche, and subtle hazelnut unfold with precision, leading to a lingering finish marked by a saline edge. This wine exemplifies the grandeur of Corton-Charlemagne, showcasing both power and finesse, and promises further complexity with cellaring. A benchmark expression of Burgundian terroir.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Xavier Monnot Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru originates from the prestigious Corton-Charlemagne vineyard in Burgundy, France, known for its limestone-rich soils and cool climate, which contribute to the wine's vibrant acidity and mineral character. This Chardonnay is fermented in French oak barrels, with a portion being new oak, imparting subtle vanilla and toast notes. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, enhancing its creamy texture. Aged on lees for added complexity, it offers a balance of ripe citrus and stone fruit flavors. This Grand Cru is crafted for those who appreciate structured, age-worthy white wines with a refined elegance.
