Voss Expert4.5/5

Voss Expert tasting note

This opulent Pedro Ximenez captivates with its deep mahogany hue and viscous texture, hinting at the indulgence within. The nose unfolds layers of dried fig, molasses, and roasted coffee, underscored by a subtle nuttiness. On the palate, it is unctuously sweet yet balanced by a lively acidity that prevents cloying, showcasing flavors of dark chocolate, dates, and a whisper of orange zest. The finish is long and resonant, echoing notes of caramelized nuts and a touch of spice. This wine exemplifies the rich, decadent style of Andalusian dessert wines, offering both complexity and depth.

Viña Palaciega Pedro Ximenez is a sweet, fortified wine crafted from the Pedro Ximenez grape, traditionally grown in the sun-drenched vineyards of southern Spain. The grapes are sun-dried to concentrate their sugars before fermentation is halted by the addition of grape spirit, preserving the natural sweetness. Aged in a solera system, the wine develops rich, complex flavors with notes of dried fruits and caramel. This style of wine is intended to be enjoyed as a dessert wine, offering a luscious, velvety texture with balanced acidity and a long, indulgent finish.
