The Sorano Barolo presents a garnet hue with a slight brick rim, indicative of its maturation. On the nose, it unfolds layers of dried rose petals, black cherry, and anise, underscored by hints of leather and earthy truffle. The palate is robust yet elegant, showcasing firm tannins and vibrant acidity that frame flavors of ripe plum, licorice, and a whisper of dried herbs. The finish is long and complex, with a mineral undertone that speaks to its Piedmontese terroir. This Barolo exemplifies the classic style, offering both immediate pleasure and potential for further aging.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Sorano Barolo is crafted from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the prestigious Barolo region of Italy, known for its unique terroir of calcareous clay soils and a continental climate with foggy mornings and sunny afternoons. The wine undergoes traditional fermentation with extended maceration to extract deep color and tannins, followed by aging in large oak casks for at least 18 months. This process results in a full-bodied red wine with structured tannins and balanced acidity, showcasing flavors of dark fruit, earthy undertones, and hints of spice. Ideal for cellaring, it evolves gracefully over time.
