Sant'Evasio Barbera d'Asti Superiore is praised for its rich, full-bodied character and smooth texture. It features flavors of cherry, chocolate, and oak, with a long, satisfying finish. While some appreciate its mellow and nuanced profile, others note a slight bitterness. The wine pairs well with food, offering a delightful drinking experience. Opinions vary on its lightness and fruitiness, but it remains a beloved choice.
This Barbera d'Asti Superiore presents a deep ruby hue, indicative of its concentrated nature. The nose is a symphony of ripe black cherries, violets, and subtle hints of anise, underscored by a whisper of cedar. On the palate, it reveals a medium to full-bodied structure, with vibrant acidity that is quintessential to Barbera, providing a refreshing counterbalance to its rich, dark fruit core. The tannins are finely grained, offering a polished texture that extends into a lingering finish with nuances of dark chocolate and a touch of minerality. A benchmark example of Piedmontese elegance and complexity.
