A benchmark expression of Loureiro from the Vinho Verde region, the Quinta do Ameal Reserva presents a luminous straw hue. The nose is an intricate weave of white florals, lime zest, and a subtle hint of wet stone minerality. On the palate, it reveals a precise and linear structure, with vibrant acidity that underscores notes of green apple and quince. The mid-palate is textured, offering a nuanced interplay of salinity and a whisper of almond. The finish is long and refined, echoing its mineral backbone. This wine exemplifies the elegance and potential of Loureiro, suitable for both immediate enjoyment and short-term cellaring.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Quinta do Ameal Reserva is crafted from the Loureiro grape, native to Portugal's Vinho Verde region. The vineyard benefits from a maritime climate, with cooling Atlantic breezes that preserve the grape's natural acidity. This wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in French oak barrels, which imparts subtle complexity and structure. The result is a dry, crisp wine with vibrant citrus and floral notes, balanced by a mineral undertone. Ideal for those who appreciate a fresh, elegant white wine with a touch of oak influence, showcasing the unique terroir of the Lima Valley.
