Priest Ranch Snake Oil has a profound intensity of both fruit and oak and managed to show outstanding balance for a wine of this magnitude. The blackberry fruit is concentrated and the chocolatey oak notes are intense but seamlessly integrated into the wine due to the long aging process. With a long-lasting finish, this wine needs bold food like a tomahawk steak liberally basted with garlic butter.

I was introduced to this vineyard by a friend who had visited Napa, and I was impressed by their Coach Gun label. However, I have to say that Snake Oil is a close second. It has a floral quality that reminds me of a right bank Bordeaux from Saint Julien, with whispers of cherry and blackberry that linger pleasantly. The tail is dry and satisfying. Cheers!!

Rich, earthy background notes emerge after a period of exposure to the air, accompanied by a nuanced warmth of spices and a undertone of toasted notes. The tannins, meanwhile robust, maintain a even density and depth, providing a comforting contrast to the fruit-forward flavors. The black cherry and blueberry suggestions continue to unfold, with the blueberry gradually tightening its grip, akin to of a pie-like texture. The vanilla adds a creamy, velvety smoothness to the ultimately experience, adding intricacy to the already opulent and full-bodied profile. The finish is long and satisfying, with a strong alcohol impression that leaves a enduring impression.

Velvety and graceful wine with a silky texture, all around a very satisfying experience. I would definitely enjoy it again.

Priest Ranch Snake Oil is praised for its floral notes reminiscent of Bordeaux, with cherry and blackberry flavors. Some find it rich and earthy with spices and a creamy vanilla finish, while others appreciate its silky texture and full-bodied profile. The wine's robust tannins and long finish are noted, though the strong alcohol impression may not suit all tastes.
