Complex spice profile emerges, with warm, aromatic tones of nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove. The fruit component is soft and approachable, but the spice is overpowering, dominating the palate. The tannic quality adds depth, and yet the as a whole effect is a rich, full-bodied wine.

What the web is saying

Nevio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is praised for its rich, full-bodied profile with flavors of cherry, plum, and blackberry. It offers a smooth, velvety texture with hints of oak, vanilla, and warm spices. While some find its spice profile overpowering, others appreciate its balance and affordability. The wine pairs well with Italian dishes, making it a versatile choice for both casual and special occasions.

Voss Experts4.5

The 2020 Nevio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo presents a deep ruby hue, indicative of its robust character. The nose is a complex tapestry of ripe black cherry, plum, and subtle notes of forest floor and leather, underscored by a hint of dried herbs. On the palate, the wine reveals a full-bodied structure with velvety tannins and a balanced acidity that enhances its fruit-forward profile. The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering nuances of cocoa and a touch of spice. This Montepulciano exemplifies the quintessential Abruzzo style, offering both depth and approachability, ideal for pairing with hearty Italian fare.
