Mt. Vernon Malbec is praised for its rich, full-bodied character with prominent plum and chocolate flavors, often described as velvety and well-balanced. While most appreciate its smooth tannins and complex dark fruit aromas, some note inconsistencies between vintages and occasional lack of nuance. The wine shows excellent cohesion between acidity and tannins, though a few find the finish shorter than expected.
Displaying a deep, inky violet hue, the Mt. Vernon Malbec opens with a bouquet of ripe blackberries, dark plum, and a hint of violet florality, underscored by subtle notes of mocha and cedar. On the palate, it reveals a robust structure with velvety tannins and a well-integrated acidity that enhances its fruit-forward profile. The mid-palate is rich with layers of black cherry and a whisper of dark chocolate, leading to a lingering finish marked by a touch of minerality. This Malbec exemplifies the varietal's potential for depth and elegance, making it a distinguished choice for connoisseurs.
