Michael David Winery Freakshow Red 2023

Michael David Winery Freakshow Red is praised for its rich, full-bodied character, with notes of blackberry, cherry, and vanilla. While some find it smooth and well-balanced, others feel it's too sweet or high in alcohol. The wine's complexity and affordability make it a popular choice, though some prefer the winery's other offerings like the Cabernet Sauvignon.

This bold and theatrical blend from Lodi showcases a deep garnet hue, with an exuberant bouquet of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and a hint of flinty oak. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied structure, with velvety tannins and a robust core of black fruit flavors, accented by nuances of espresso and dark chocolate. The wine's vibrant acidity provides a refreshing counterbalance to its rich texture, leading to a long, spicy finish with whispers of black pepper and vanilla. An expressive and approachable red, it exemplifies the opulent style characteristic of its Californian origins.
