Mascaret Vineyards Onda Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

A wine with a solid foundation, but a disjointed character. The initial impressions are promising, with nuances of cherry, red fruit, and gravel, but the intricacy is somewhat marred by a clear separation of the different components. The tannins are present, but the ultimately profile feels somewhat one-dimensional. The nose is centered around by tobacco, eucalyptus, and spearmint, with a sharp, high-acidity finish. The cellar is tight, and the wine was not left to mature for an extended period, which may have contributed to its somewhat short-lived nature. 89 points. 4.1. A wine that, at the same time not without its merits, feels somewhat underdeveloped and lacking in nuance.

Rich, gentle touch with a dense garnet hue, balanced by a blackened cherry and black currant bouquet, in contrast the tasting reveals a harmonious cohesion of flavors, featuring blackberry jam and vanilla notes, accompanied by well-integrated tannins.

A dynamic cab that exceeds expectations by 30% in terms of its weight, leaving room for growth and development. Looking forward to its future evolution and potential in 4-5 years to see how it unfolds.
