Magdeleine Bouhou Blaye - Côtes de Bordeaux

This Bordeaux blend receives praise for its rich fruit profile featuring blackcurrant, cherry, and cassis, complemented by oak and vanilla notes. While many appreciate its smooth texture and balanced structure, some find earthy/tannic elements overpowering. Opinions vary on dryness levels, with descriptors ranging from 'polished' to 'astringent'. It's generally seen as a versatile, food-friendly option though not exceptionally distinctive.

This wine presents a deep garnet hue, indicative of its robust character. The nose is a harmonious blend of ripe blackcurrant and plum, underscored by subtle notes of cedar and graphite, which speak to its Bordeaux heritage. On the palate, it reveals a well-structured body with firm, yet polished tannins that provide a solid backbone. The mid-palate is enriched with layers of dark chocolate and a hint of dried herbs, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish. This wine exemplifies the elegance and complexity typical of the Blaye appellation, offering both immediate appeal and aging potential.
