Louis Métaireau (Grand Mouton) Carte Noire Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie 2025

Louis Métaireau Carte Noire Muscadet is praised for its crisp, refreshing nature, with lively acidity and minerality. It often features notes of pear, apple, and citrus, complemented by floral and earthy undertones. While some appreciate its well-balanced and creamy texture, others feel excessive lees contact diminishes its character. Ideal for seafood pairing, this wine is generally well-regarded for its vibrant and versatile profile.

Louis Métaireau (Grand Mouton) Carte Noire Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie is a delightful white wine from the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation in the Loire Valley, France. On the nose, Carte Noire Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie reveals enticing aromas of fresh citrus fruits, such as lemon and grapefruit, accompanied by subtle floral notes. These delicate scents create an inviting bouquet that sets the stage for the tasting experience. Upon the first sip, the wine displays a crisp and refreshing acidity that is characteristic of Muscadet wines. The palate is treated to a harmonious blend of flavors, including zesty lemon, green apple, and a hint of saline minerality. These flavors intertwine beautifully, creating a well-balanced and complex profile. One of the distinguishing features of this wine is its "Sur Lie" aging process. This traditional technique involves leaving the wine in contact with its lees (the spent yeast cells) for an extended period. This imparts a subtle creaminess and additional depth to the wine's texture, enhancing its overall complexity. The finish is clean and lingering, leaving a pleasant sensation on the palate. This Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie is best enjoyed chilled and pairs wonderfully with seafood dishes, particularly oysters, as well as light salads and goat cheese.
