Elvio Cogno Barolo Ravera 2020

Rich, full-bodied Barolo with a long, enjoyable finish.

Pinot with a fruity and slightly sweet nose, but as it aged, its brightness and tannins became apparent, revealing a more bold character. Fresh and refined, it was clearly a 2011 or 2012 vintage, with no excess ripeness evident. A smooth and elegant wine, it was a producer that defied categorization, blending modern and traditional elements. Its approachability was notable, and I found it to be a mind-blowing example of a producer that has successfully navigated the transition from modern to traditional winemaking.

Concentrated and multi faceted wine with a nose that is both fruity and floral, featuring touches of strawberries, plums, and flowers. The profile is well-balanced, with dominant red berry hints and a spicy aftertaste. The tannins are firm, suggesting that the wine has a top notch deal of potential for aging and maturation.
