Marleaux
Inspiration struck after a visit to Bordeaux, guiding Dan Duckhorn towards crafting world-class Merlot. The inaugural vintage of Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley, released in 1978, boasts an impressive blend of 82% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.4% Cabernet Franc, 0.4% Petit Verdot, and 0.2% Malbec. The nose reveals enticing aromas of dark fruit, black cherry, cassis, and sweet bramble, but the taste combines rich, gentle tannins with a lively, zesty acidity. The tail is characterized by warm, spicy suggestions and gentle layers of graphite. A truly extraordinary wine, ripe for the taking.
