Voss Expert4.5/5

Voss Expert tasting note

The 2021 Dark Harvest Chardonnay presents a luminous straw hue, indicative of its vibrant character. On the nose, it reveals a sophisticated bouquet of ripe peach, Meyer lemon, and a whisper of honeysuckle, underpinned by subtle hints of toasted almond and flinty minerality. The palate is impeccably balanced, showcasing a creamy texture that is deftly countered by a zesty citrus acidity. Layers of baked apple and vanilla bean unfold gracefully, leading to a lingering finish marked by a touch of saline and a delicate oak influence. This Chardonnay exemplifies the elegance and finesse of cool-climate viticulture.

Dark Harvest Chardonnay is crafted from grapes grown in the cool-climate vineyards of the Sonoma Coast, where the Pacific Ocean's influence ensures a long growing season with balanced ripeness and acidity. This Chardonnay undergoes full malolactic fermentation, enhancing its creamy texture, and is aged in a combination of new and neutral French oak barrels, imparting subtle vanilla and spice notes. The wine offers a vibrant expression of citrus and stone fruit flavors, with a crisp finish. It is designed for those who appreciate a harmonious balance between fruit and oak, suitable for immediate enjoyment or short-term aging.
