2014

Denismar

2014, 1 hr decant reveals a nose with a tight, spicy, black fruit, and blueberry character, with a sour funk element and a citrus note that may be a result of the limestone. The tannins are moderate, and the zest is well-balanced. though the wine may benefit from another hour of aging, it still retains a certain tightness. The 82-point score is a testament to the wine's well-made nature, but it also serves as a reminder that Malbecs may not be for everyone. A 2-hour aging period has improved the wine, but it still remains with a tight, unbalanced quality. The 84-point score reflects the wine's potential, but it also acknowledges its limitations. Overall, the 2014, 1 hr decant is a solid, if unremarkable, wine that may appeal to those who prefer well-made, but not overly complex, reds.
