Caduceus Merkin Vineyards Tarzan receives praise for its balance of fruit and spice notes, with recurring mentions of cherry, plum, cinnamon, and oak. While some appreciate its dry, crisp finish and evolving structure, others highlight its full-bodied character and food pairing potential. Opinions vary on aging, with some recommending immediate enjoyment and others noting potential for development.
A deep garnet hue introduces this Arizona red, offering a bouquet of ripe blackberries, crushed violets, and a hint of cedar. The palate unfolds with layers of dark plum and cassis, underscored by a robust structure of fine-grained tannins and a vibrant acidity that lends freshness. Subtle notes of dark chocolate and anise add complexity, while the wine's earthy minerality speaks to its unique terroir. The finish is long and harmonious, marked by a whisper of dried herbs. This wine exemplifies the potential of high-altitude viticulture, promising both immediate pleasure and potential for aging.
