This vibrant and playful red showcases a translucent ruby hue, inviting exploration. On the nose, it offers an aromatic bouquet of wild strawberries, red currants, and a hint of rose petal, underscored by a subtle earthiness. The palate is light-bodied yet lively, with a refreshing acidity that dances alongside flavors of tart cherry and cranberry, complemented by a whisper of white pepper. Its silky tannins and clean, mineral-driven finish make it an exemplary expression of a glou-glou style, perfect for immediate enjoyment and a delightful companion to charcuterie or light fare.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Birichino Car Car Glou Glou Akashita is a light, refreshing red wine crafted for immediate enjoyment. Sourced from vineyards in California's Central Coast, this wine benefits from the region's cool maritime influence, which preserves acidity and freshness. The winemaking process emphasizes minimal intervention, with fermentation occurring in stainless steel to maintain vibrant fruit flavors. The wine is bottled early to capture its youthful character, offering bright red fruit notes and a lively, approachable style. Perfect for casual sipping, it embodies the 'glou glou' ethos of easy-drinking, low-tannin reds.
