Displaying a deep ruby hue, the Bauer Haus Dornfelder Sweet Red opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe black cherries, plum compote, and a hint of violet. The palate is lush and velvety, with a pronounced sweetness balanced by a subtle acidity that prevents the wine from becoming cloying. Notes of dark chocolate and a whisper of cinnamon add complexity, while the finish is smooth and lingering, echoing the wine's fruit-forward profile. This Dornfelder exemplifies the approachable yet expressive nature of German sweet reds, making it a delightful choice for both casual sipping and pairing with rich desserts.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Bauer Haus Dornfelder Sweet Red is crafted from the Dornfelder grape, a variety known for its deep color and fruit-forward profile. Grown in Germany's temperate climate, these grapes benefit from long, sunny days and cool nights, enhancing their natural sweetness and acidity. The wine undergoes a controlled fermentation process to preserve its vibrant fruit flavors, followed by a brief maturation in stainless steel to maintain freshness. This sweet red wine offers a smooth, approachable style with notes of ripe berries and a soft finish, making it suitable for casual sipping or pairing with light desserts.
