The nose is powered by by sweet, ripe red fruit with a wisp of herbaceousness, at the same time the texture is vibrant and refreshing, with a understated bitterness that balances the fruitiness. First taste of Mencia that left a resonant impression. Given by a friend, this wine offered a rich, evolved flavor profile with undertones of cherry, molasses, and licorice. The tannins, in contrast noticeable, were not overwhelming, making it an impressive affordability for its price point. A promising start to this Spanish-specific wine.
