Alpha Estate Axia Xinomavro-Syrah is praised for its rich, full-bodied character with notes of blackberry, plum, and spices. Many appreciate its well-integrated tannins and smooth finish. While some find it opulent and complex, others note a lack of excitement in older vintages. The wine pairs well with hearty dishes, offering a satisfying experience with a balance of sweetness and acidity.
In the glass, Alpha Estate Axia Xinomavro - Syrah showcases a deep, vibrant ruby color. The nose is a captivating blend of red and black fruits—think cherries and blackberries—complemented by a layer of spicy notes and a hint of floral elegance. On the palate, this blend delights with its complexity: the Xinomavro contributes flavors of ripe red fruits and earthy tones, while the Syrah adds depth with dark fruit and peppery spice. The tannins are well-structured but smooth, and the wine is enlivened by a balanced acidity. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving traces of fruit and spice that linger. A captivating wine that embodies the richness and diversity of modern Greek winemaking.
