Tenuta Gorghi Tondi was founded in 2000 by Michele Sala and Doretta Tumbarello, and the estate is owned by sisters Annamaria and Clara Sala. In the early twentieth century, their great-grandmother Dora purchased the 130 hectares of vineyards. In the 1970s, an overhead-trellised Grillo vineyard was planted on the shore of Gorgo Basso. The winery was constructed at the center of the estate between 2003 and 2005. In 2008, the first vintage of Sorante, a Nero d'Avola cru, was produced.

The estate is set inside the Lago Preola e Gorghi Tondi nature reserve and holds organic, VIVA, and SOStain certifications. Grillo accounts for more than one-third of the vineyard area, grown alongside Zibibbo, Damaschino, Nero d'Avola, Catarratto, Frappato, Nerello Mascalese, Perricone, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Nero.
On VinoVoss, Tenuta Gorghi Tondi has 4 wines in stock: 1 red, 1 white, 1 rosé, 1 sparkling. Their average rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 45 ratings.
