About Scar Of The Sea
Scar of the Sea was established in 2012 and is owned and operated by Mikey and Gina Giugni in San Luis Obispo, California. In 2019, they began making wines at Tank Farm, a refurbished auto shop.
The winery stewards 42 acres across four vineyard sites in the SLO Coast AVA, making compost, seeding cover crops, and grazing animals. Grapes are hand harvested and fermented using native yeast and bacteria without chemistry adjustments. White wines are barrel fermented, aged on lees in old French oak barrels, and use a solera system. Wines are bottled without fining or filtration, in recyclable green glass with natural cork and without capsules. Its wines include Casa Contenta Pinot Noir.
