Portfolio

Portfolio was founded in 1998 by Luc and Geneviève Janssens. The winery sources Cabernet Sauvignon from Hendry Ranch Vineyard in southwest Napa and Cabernet Franc from Detert East Vineyard in the Oakville Bench in west Oakville. Block 8 of Hendry Ranch Vineyard was planted in 1974 on volcanic stone, clay, and gravel stream terraces, while Detert East Vineyard was planted in the 1970s on an alluvial fan with Coombs gravelly loam soil. Vineyard yields are kept to a maximum of 3 tons per acre. Grapes are hand-harvested in 35-pound containers, hand-sorted before and after destemming, and crushed into 1-ton bin fermenters. Fermentation caps are punched down multiple times daily as needed. The wine is aged 30 months in 100% new French oak barrels from Central France, racked several times, and bottled by hand at the winery unfined and unfiltered. Its wines include Portfolio Limited Edition.
